Kellie's Story
My biggest life changing event was my mother's illness and death at 65 years old in 2005. My husband, Eric and then 2 year old, Isabella, packed up and moved cross country from CA in late 2003 to make memories and care for my mother during her time of need. We had 6 great months before things went really downhill. I feel so fortunate to have had the opportunity to care for her and show her how much I loved her. She really was my best friend. Lived in East Longmeadow but eventually moved to Braintree where the work situation was better for my husband. Tried to remain in MA after her death but fate brought us back to CA in late 2006. I eventually moved my father out here to live with us as I am an only child. He is getting to enjoy his two grandchildren and more favorable weather....
Many positive experiences came out of my time with her. It really tested me and...Expand for more
changed me forever. I believe I am a much stronger person, spiritual person and patient person because of it all. I hope to volunteer for a local Hospice here in So. CA one day, to give back to an organization that gave so much to my mother and our family during a difficult time. I continue to donate to the Baystate VNA Visiting Nurses and Hospice program of Springfield as they are all living angels on earth.
Thank you for reading my "blurb". Life has a strange way of throwing things at you but in the end the experiences we gain from them are priceless. I hope that having my children be a part of it all teaches them the same patience, compassion and faith that I gained. My son was born in 2004 and for the short year my mother had with him made quite a bond with each other. I will always have that image in my mind of her holding her precious grandson, Tyler.
