Hello Classmates of 1978: My husband Rick and I have been living in Pennsylvania for 11 years now with our 4 children. I found out in April of 2004 how lucky it is that we live here, as I suffered a spontaneous disection of my corinary artery. I was flown to Hahnemann University Hosp. in Philadelphia and underwent 2 open heart surgeries, I was in a coma for 2weeks, and not expected to live, one of the Doctors at Hahnemann decided to place an LVAD (Left Ventricular Device) inside of me which pumped the left side of my heart, the decison saved my life. After I awoke from my coma my husband was instructed by the hospital on how he should give me the news about my situation, which was that I needed a heart transplant. My only concern after hearing that was for my children, Rick was so wonderful on breaking the news to me. aking classes for my broker's license. For those of you from school that remember my family I was very close to my cousin Colleen Carey who passed away from a problem with diabetes, and right before I had my heart problem my mom was diagnosed with Lung Cancer, she presently is doing very well. We have truly had a very difficult year! However, we as a family are doing well, I am so fortunate to have a great husband and 4 beautiful children, I attribute my surviving and my quick recovery to my family. I am truly blessed, I have been told many times how fortunate it was they we are so close to Hahnemann, not many hospitals have the LVAD device and the doctors and nurses at Hahnemann are truly the best, I have also been told that I most definately have a gardian angel(s) as technically I should not be here. But most of all I am truly blessed with the most wonderful husband and family and friends any one could ever ask for.
