Kelly's Story
I guess the first thing to make note of would be the fact that, when i left KY right after high school, I never went back. Not because I don't like Kentucky, but because I quickly noticed there is a lot of world out there to see and experience.
My first employment opportunity was the Army. The thing about the Army is, when it sux it really sux, when its great its simply amazing. I had many great experiences that I never would have had if it wasn't for the Army. I traveled the world and had a great time doing it. I would HIGHLY recommend Scotland in August. If i learned anything from my 7 years in the military its that the phrase "You can accomplish anything if you put your mind to it" is BS. I learned that "you can accomplish anything if you HAVE to", even when your mind thinks you can't.
Eventually, I realized I didn't want to stay in and retire out of the military so I focused on a career path in Information Technology and believe it to be the single best decision I've made yet. While working, I went to school and got my Bachelors Degree in Computer Networking (currently working on my Masters Degree), got certified, and entered the white collar work force as a Ne...Expand for more
twork Administrator.
After many years building, configuring, administering entire networks (servers, workstations, firewalls, etc.) I finally happened across my current position working for the Department of Defense (DoD) in some interesting areas with interesting people. Some of the topics I deal with are Cyber Crime, hacking, new threats, etc. I've given presentations at annual DoD conferences as well as other Defense Industry "meetings" on topics such as Hacking Wireless Networks, Security Threats, Data Carving, etc.
My latest venture (in parallel to my DoD job) has brought be around to becoming a co-author. I have co-authored a Microsoft Vista Certification Exam Prep book published by Syngress Publishing and have accepted other opportunities they have asked me to work on that should be available online and in stores later this year (2008). One of the next books is a MAC OSX Forensics book followed by a book on hacking wireless networks and stuff like that.
NOTE: One of the main features of a site like this is getting to see people you havent seen in a long time. Or people that you can no longer put a face with the name. SO POST A RECENT PIC OF YOURSELF !! LOL
