Ken's Story

Life Hi. I was a don't-care-much-about-anything-hippy in H.S. but I managed to pull out of that dive pretty well. Some of you may remember my junior year I "attended class" at Sid's Grill in the mornings and went to Ben Franklin for Commercial Art class in the afternoon. When I got expelled for absenteeism it woke me up a bit. Then my senior year I did just enough to graduate and did the part-time work thing in the afternoon. If I could do it over again I would have been involved more. Living at home and working for a while I realized my life wasn't going anywhere so I signed up at United Electronics Institute and graduated with an associates degree. My oldest brother Ron went to UEI so I took encouragement from that. I took an electronics technician job working for General Electric in June of 1978 in Charlottesville, VA. I met my wife in VA and we married in Nov., 1979. We had two daughters and still trying for a son we had a set of twins. We discovered we like a large family so had two more. 4 girls & 2 boys altogether. My oldest daughter is married and lives in Atlanta. The next one is going to college in VA. The twins are 15 as I write this (6/17/2002) and the younger two are 11 and nearly 10. I did electronics work for five years then switched to software engineering and later Information Technology. I left GE in 2001 after 23 years and am now an SAP Programmer/Analyst and consultant in Florida 20 minutes north of Orlando. My spare time pursuits lately have been to explore Florida's waterways in my ski-boat and teach my kids to waterski/wakeboard--among other things. I was working on a bachelor's degree at James Madison University in VA in their adult degree program before I re...Expand for more
located to FL. I attended a lot of classes at Piedmont VA Community College, the University of VA plus various other vocational technical courses. If you are interested in seeing my resume see monster.com. I hope you enjoyed reading about me and I hope you "turned out" okay too. 8/5/2005 Hi. I just noticed this is a few years out-of-date. I left Orlando a couple of years ago and except for a brief consulting job in Portland, Oregon I am working and residing in Omaha, Nebraska. 8/22/2007 It's out-of-date again. I moved to North Carolina on 6/1/2007. My employer's HQ is here and I volunteered to be relocated here from Omaha. BTW, I doubt if you could find my resume on Monster.com. Here's a link hometown.aol.com/kenjudy/kj-resume.doc One of my twins (now age 20) stayed behind at college in Omaha. The rest of the kids are here except the oldest who is still in the Atlanta area. 2/12/2009 It's out-of-date again. AOL abruptly switched off their hometown members websites. I moved mine to webpages.charter.net/kenjudy Lately, my hobby has been painting on canvas. There is info on the web pages. 12/6/2015 Re-subscribed to Classmates for three months to see who they were saying had visited my profile since they hide that from you when your subscription runs out. I guess people are just browsing around and if I browse around to see what people are saying about themselves I probably show up on theirs too. Anyway, here's an update. Myself, wife and 3 of 6 kids still in NC. Oldest dau. still in Atlanta area. One grandson. Next oldest dau. here in NC, married and expecting. :) Daughter and younger son in Omaha. Youngest dau. in NC. 3 kids married, 5 have college degrees, 1 advanced degree. -KJ
