Ken's Story
Ken has been a member of the AAC staff since September 1988. As Director of Golf Courses and Grounds, Ken and his staff, comprised of landscape technicians, turf technicians, mechanics and golf course superintendents (totaling 75 people), manage to two 18-hole golf courses, a nine hole par 3 course, and roughly 500 acres of club real estate. Ken designed and his department built the par 3 course in 1994. Ken served as Project Manager on the Highlands' Renovation project, 1994-1995 and the Riverside Renovation Project in 2002-2003. Working with Rees Jones and several other contractors, Ken and his staff have just completed putting the finishing touches on the largest project the club has undertaken outside the clubhouse. The Highlands Renovation was started in March of 2006 and opened in October. This renovation was again managed by Ken with Rees Jones and all the same contractors that worked on Riverside.

ORGANIZATIONS:
Ken was appointed by Governor Perdue to the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame Board of Directors March 19th 2004.
Ken was also selected Golf Course Superintendent of the Year for 2002 by the Georgia Golf Course Superintendent's Association at the annual meeting in November. He was recognized at the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame Banquet in January.
Golf Course Superintendents Association of America: member for over 33 years. Served on the Board of Director from 1996-2001. Chaired numerous committees. Ken is one of 116 professionals that have maintained Certified Status for 20-24 years.
Georgia Golf Course Superintendent's Association - President, 1987-88; has been a member for 32 years. Served on the Board of Directors from 1981 through 1990.
Serves on the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Advisory Board , 2001-2004.

ACTIVITIES:
Ken is in high demand as speaker on turf and golf course management subjects. He has made presentations in Japan, South Africa, Australia, Spain, France, Argentina and throughout the United States. He has been a seminar instructor and speaker for the Golf Course Superintendents Association of American, several USGA Green Section conferences, Georgia Superintendents Association and the Club Managers Association. Ken gave the keynote address at the North Carolina Turf Grass Council meeting in January. The subject was "New Grasses for the Future".
Ken stays involved with the media and moderated a press conference in San Diego at the GCSAA Conference February 14th for those hosting the "Majors" in 2004. He has also appeared to two segements of "What's in the Bag" on the Golf Channel.
