Ken's Story

Life Graduated Bayside H.S 1961, and attended St.John's University graduating in 1965 with a BBA degree, majoring in Business Management and Marketing. Upon graduation I got married and was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. Upon discharge as a Captain, after a 13 month tour overseas, I joined the IBM Corporation. While at IBM I attended graduate school at night at Adelphi University in Garden City L.I. I currently reside in Freehold NJ, however returning from the service I originally lived on Long Island in Dix Hills where we raised three great kids; Laura, Kevin and Craig. My 2 sons still live on LI in the Northport and Commack area and my daughter lives nearby in Freehold. We have 5 fantastic grand children, who as you can imagine are the light of our lives. I was fortunate in my IBM career to have worked predominately in the metropolitan area of NY and NJ,while holding down several Hq's and Field, First and Second Line Management positions, as well as.a few cool international assigment with IBM Global Services. Before Bayside High School I attended PS 31 and then Marie Curie Junior High School (JHS 158). I have some very fond memories of my school years at BHS but mostly at JHS 158 where I had some very memorable friendships. At the time I lived on 46th Avenue and Bell Blvd across from PS31. I think it is great to keep in touch with close friends and even greater to hook up and renew old friendships. At this point in our lives we like to travel and we alway enjoy keeping busy with our grand kids. I also support and serve with several Marine Corps veterans organizations such as the "Marine Corps League", "Together We Served", "Eagles Up" and the A.R.M.S (American Recreational Military Services) group, all missioned to support and help our men and women in the Armed Services today, along with their families, widows and even orphans. Let us never forget Sept 11 and the simple fact that America cannot effectively defend itself unless and until we as a unified nation fully understand the nature of the enemy that ...Expand for more
we face. John F. Kennedy said it best "Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty. Remember ""People sleep peacefully at night only because rough, honorable men stand ready to do violence on their behalf" and in doing so some pay the ultimate price and sacrifice with their lives. Support our troops!!! As an addendum to my story I am currently serving on the Board of Directors of American Recreational Military Services which is non- profit organization that has been honoring and supporting our troops since 2003. While relying solely on charitable donations from corporate sponsors and the community at large, our goal at A.R.M.S is multi faceted in that we provide a broad range of morale building activities and programs for our troops, providing support and direct assistance to military families in need, including wounded warriors and their families. Over the years the major focal point of our activity has been in sponsoring collection campaigns and food drives, sending comfort packages of snacks, toiletries and medical supplies to our men and women in uniform. Along with each box shipped we also send prepaid calling cards, encouraging thank you notes and letters of appreciation which are well received and most appreciated by our troops. Each year we send out close to 2500 comfort packages to Soldiers, Marines and Airmen deployed to Afghanistan, Kuwait, Bahrain, and other Middle East hot spots. Support our troops .... our culture has been developed over two centuries by and through the hardship and sacrifice of millions of men and women who have courageously fought for freedom! "Freedom is a fragile thing and is never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people. Those who have known freedom and then lost it have never known it again." - Ronald Regan
