Ken's Story
Life
The 11 years following our graduation from CHS was an quest to collect degrees. I got a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from UGA in 1986. Went to Italy for 6 mos after graduation to represent U.S. 4-H on an exchange trip and lived "la dolce vita" (the sweet life). I got a Master of Public Admin from Georgia Southern College in 1989. Then I worked for Senator Nunn for a year in the Atlanta office. Then I got a Juris Doctor from the Cumberland School of Law, Samford University in 1993.
I married, divorced, married divorced the same woman (can't say I didn't try). Clerked for a judge in Montgomery AL for a little over a year in '93-94. Was the first in-house County Attorney for Bulloch County, GA. I know what the "Statesboro Blues" are. That's where the "ex" is from.
Moved to Atlanta after the Olympics to do commercial real estate law with a small firm. Did that a couple of years (96-98). Was in-house real estate and transactional attorney for Blimpie Subs for thre...Expand for more
e years, and even made a few sandwiches (98-01). Now am a civil rights defense lawyer representing a lot of cops and local governments. I even represented Cherokee County in some matters this past year. My firm is Hall, Booth, Smith & Slover. We're downtown at P'tree and International across from the Hard Rock Cafe. Call me if you're downtown. 404-954-6960.
In the fall of 96 I was set up by a client on a blind date. It took immediately for me. It took her, Chris, a month and a half to agree, but we were engaged in April 97 and married 9/27/97. We live in the Virginia-Highland/Morningside/Druid Hills area near Emory U. Chris grew up in Druid Hills and went to Emory and is Director of Volunteer Services for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, both Egleston and Scottish Rite. Her world has been, for the most part, 4 square miles of DeKalb County. She thinks we need to make hotel reservations when we visit my folks, who still live in Avery/Hickory Flat.
I'd love to hear from you.
