Kenneth's Story
Life
(Also, I have a Facebook page with lots of pics on it of our time in Alaska, Europe, and Israel)
After living in Juneau, Alaska where my wife of 26 yrs., Cindy, was a legislative aide for a good Democrat, Representative Cissna, we returned to Santa Fe in '06. Here Cindy is painting and getting involved in politics again, and I am forging metals and building furniture. We had lived in Alaska for 1/2 the year and then visiting our second home in Santa Fe, NM, but sold out in AK two years ago (2006). We plan on making Santa Fe our base now. My mother, Norma Green, lived nearby but she had to return to SC because of the altitude. She was a English teacher at Manzano when I was there (class of '65). After high school I spent 2 years in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot. Afterwards I returned I went to school in psychology to try and figure out who was the more screwed up as a result, me, or the US. Figured out it was both but mainly the latter. I obtained my PhD in Clinical Psychology from the Univ. of Georgia in '79 and took a job at the University of Alaska in Fairbanks for 10 years as an Assistant Professor of Psychology. I was able to retire from there, and then for the next 10 years I ran the Fairbanks Vet Center (for veterans) for ten years as a clinical psychologist and tea...Expand for more
m leader (as we were called). In 1999 we moved to Santa Fe and bought a house in Eldorado but kept a condo (since sold) in Anchorage,AK. Cindy worked hard for Howard Dean as the Santa Fe coordinator and then went to AK where she worked for a Democratic Senate race trying to unseat the evil Republican Empire. Following that she obtained a legislative job in Juneau and we did some back and forth. I was a special ed. teacher for 6 mths. in Santa Fe until I popped an Achilles tendon in PE with the kids. I enjoyed the legislative work, but really like working with my hands and exploring artistic things in Santa Fe and at our great local community college. My avocations right now are blacksmithing and woodworking with antique handtools. My wife's career is the main one right now, and I enjoyed following her around. However we seem to be in Santa Fe now, and will be going to Europe as much as we can in the future!
I have posted a bunch of pics of our travels to Paris, Rome, and Israel this Xmas.
Cindy is now an education legislative analyst for the NM legislature. Guess what? Due to Republicans crashing the economy, there is no federal money, and things will get tougher for NM.
I HAVE A MAJOR FACEBOOK PAGE WITH LOTS OF PHOTOS OF EUROPE. ISRAEL, AND OUR YEARS IN ALASKA AND MOUNTAINEERING.
