Kenneth's Story
A third generation New Mexican, attended elementary and high school in Aztec. Joined the Marine Corps in 1966, and after graduating from UNM in 1969, served in the Marines until 1996. During this time, was assigned and deployed around the globe to places including Okinawa, Viet Nam, Honduras, Cuba, Denmark, Norway, and the Philippines. When not assigned to Marine Expeditionary Forces, served two tours at Marine Corps Headquarters in Arlington, Virginia and one tour on the Joint Staff at the Pentagon. Graduated with distinction from the National Defense University and received a Masters Degree from George Washington University in National Resource Management.

Commanded several units: A Battery, Second Light Antiaircraft Missile Battalion; Marine Tactical Air Command Squadron-28; and Marine Air Control Group-28. Attained the grade of Colonel in 1990 and served as Counter-narcotics C4I Division Chief on the Joint Staff; Commanding Officer, Marine Air Control Group-28; and Chief of Staff, Second Marine Aircraft Wing before retiring in 1996.
Married Susan Shorter in 1969 and we had two boys, Jason and Kevin.
Sue and I built a retirement home in North Carolina near our last duty station, but in 1998 we packed up and moved back to NM where we bought a home in Albuquerque.
We have been on two reunion cruises with the Class of 1964 and look forward to more.
We enjoy summers in Albuquerque and winters in Mesa, AZ.
