Kenneth Washington:  

I attended Port Richmond High School twice. I was there as a freshman, and after a year in New Mexico, I came back to finish my junior year and graduate in 1963, I graduated from Staten Island Community College in June 1966, and attended Brooklyn College for three semesters. I worked summers as a New York City Lifeguard for five years, two years at Lyons Pool in Tompkinsville and three years at Midland Beach, before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force in September 1968.I served as an Inventory Management Specialist for about 5 years, I then retrained into the Broadcast Public Affairs career field. My first overseas assignment was to Thailand from 1971 to 1972. After I retrained, I served at Sondrestraom Air Base, Greenland, and learned a definition of cold. The Air Force let me thaw out in Sacramento California for a year before sending me to Crete, Greece. That was the best assignment of my career, especially since I learned how to speak Greek.
