Keri's Story
Life
After graduating from High School I went right to work at Blue Cross and got an apartment with my sister Kim. I partied with my friends and dated and had a couple of serious relationships but had a mad crush on my best friend whom I later married. I met him (AL) on my 22nd birthday. We have been together as a couple for 19 years (married for the last 9 years of that). I never did manage to do things in the right order. We had our dog, child and purchased our home before we got married. I had two children. Kali in 1986 and Alexi in 1993. Kali is gone now. She was killed 4-25-04 at Golden Gardens - Hit by an Amtrak Passenger train.
Things like that change a person. I was never very easy going before (always had to do the responsible thing) but now I am overly responsible and neurotic. My daughter Alexi (15 now) will be lucky to grow up having a life. I am terrified to let her do anyth...Expand for more
ing or go anywhere. And in turn she is pushing all of my buttons! Having my child killed made me realize that life is way too short for all the petty stuff. After 26 years with Blue Cross I changed direction and am now my own boss. I am a small (very small) business owner. For that last 4+ years I have been making and selling "Easy Reader Handcrafted Book Covers". For the last 3 years I have been selling them online and down at the Pike Place Market.
I've continued to stay close friends with Colleen. She was actually my birthing coach when I had my first child Kali. She is the best person to have as a friend when you really need one. She was really there for me along with my husband Al after Kali was killed and my world fell apart.
So now I am dealing with life day to day, trying to stay ahead of my orders. To heck with a clean house. Who has time? I stay busy and that is a good thing.
