Kerrin's Story
Dear Friends,
I am well and happy - still crazy about dogs and horses. Always a restless spirit, I've lived all over the U.S. Now, I still travel a lot but since '92 I have been blessed with a wonderful man who is my husband, business partner and best friend. Together, we own a photography business and specialize in (yeah, you guessed it) - Dogs and Horses. I'm also a writer with one book and regular magazine features and two monthly columns on dogs to my credit. Dale and I cover events as diverse as the Westminster Dog Show and the Kentucky Derby. We maintain several websites including dogphoto.com and kerrinwinterchurchill.com which pretty much sum up my existence. After many years away, I have come home to my childhood roots -- taking over the old homestead, making it our own. On the old property, we raise and train horses and dogs for the show world. My best memory of HS would have to be riding Mr.Osterland's horses painted up like Indian Ponies through the Metro Parks on Halloween. I also fondly recall all of those stadium concerts sponsored by WMMS - ah, "The World Series of Rock." All the times we spent just "sitting around" listening to Young, Dillon, Zepplin, CSN, Bruce, Floyd,CCR, Skynner, Allman Brothers, Seger, Clapton .. and the rest.. colored my life in ways that I couldn't realize until many years later. We had fantastic times. For Any College friends, well, Ashland was too full of experiences to write it all down but Oh My God, TV/Radio majors still Rock. Tv Production was too ...Expand for more
much fun and all of our music, Heads, Police, Joy Division, etc. was the best. FYI, I did the Tv producer/anchor gig for a while, it wasn't as great as college. The profession lacked my chums (where is "Purple britches Colleen?") and there were no lack of "suits" who were fond of saying, "No". Too bad Larry Hiner wasn't in the real world. What a great guy! Sure would be great to see all of you again. What would we say to one another now that we're all grown up? Hope all of you who read this are healthy and happy in whatever you have chosen to do with your life. Peace, Love and Understanding. Kerrin (Smith)
epilogue: I wrote the above profile several years ago. Since then I went to a "76" reunion (summer of 08) that was largely put on by Cheryl Lutz (she did a great job getting folks together) it was fun to see those who attended though I am haunted by the fact that "time slips away" as I wish we could be youthful forever..(sigh.) I had hoped to put together an old fashioned bonfire in the big woods on my old property for those who are still local - sadly, I have great big ideas and _never enough time. My apologies to all who were hoping to attend. Maybe we can do this sometime - I really would like to - just gotta grab some time to plan. Anyone interested in doing this, email me through my website and I'll put them in a file - maybe we can do this before we're all gone.. or maybe we can have another reunion out on the old Sokol Farm property on Royalwood road but there I go, "big ideas talkin'..."
