Kevin's Story
College
Cal Poly SLO is a great college. Having a mix of agricultural and engineering students made college life really interesting (I never knew what a "tractor pull" was until I went to Cal Poly). I would have not traded the life experience there for anything.
I keep wanting to go visit the campus because I know they've made enormous changes in the past 25 years.
Go Mustangs!
I've worked in Santa Clara county for 5 companies, all in the Engineering Design Automation (EDA) industry. These companies make the software that engineers use to design the integrated circuits in all the electronic devices we use every day.
I've been fortunate enough to have many opportunities to change jobs. My jobs have included Software Applications Engineer/Corporate Applications Engineer, a training instructor, Hotline Support, customer and field applications training program co-or...Expand for more
dinator, on-line knowledge system support engineer, a MIS database programmer for both an internal and external call/bug tracking systems, supported deployment and sw/hw service for Windows PCs. In 2009, I switched from Windows desktop support to IT infrastructure where I am supporting corporate wireless, thin clients, and virtual machines.
I'm a worker bee who enjoys working with people and solving problems. I have no ambitions or interest in being a manager because I prefer the "hands-on".
I've been more places outside of the US that inside - Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Mexico, All over Western Europe. I would like to visit mainland China, some where in South America, Egypt, Australia/New Zealand, and if it's the last continent I haven't visited, Antarctica.
My goal was to retire before age 60, but with the economic crash and so forth, I'll be happy with 64. :-)
