Kevin's Story
Life
After graduating from Stanford, I married a girl from Worcester, MA. I spent two years as a CPA in Mass. I then went into the ministry as principal of three Christian schools in MA, VA, and MD. We then moved to CT where I began working with accounting software, traveling the country consulting in the software industry. On New Year's Day 2007, I learned that I have multiple myeloma, a blood cancer that destroys bone tissue. In March 2009, I was forced to go on full-time disability.
We have two children by birth, one adopted son, and a second informally "adopted" son. Rachael is a nurse in St. Louis. Caleb (our natural son) manages a tire dealership in the Hartford area. Chris, our adopted son, is still in college in southern Ohio. Chris's older brother, Terry, is also considered a member of our family. He graduated this spring from Marshall University in West Virginia. He has since moved to Atlanta, where he works as a personal trainer.
We said goodbye to my brother Ken in June of 2008, when he passed on due to complications from a case of salmonella poisoning. We rejoice that his body, which had challenged him with heart complications all his life, is now whole in Heaven. He had always wanted to play football, but never could. The first thing Jesus said to Ken upon entering Heaven was "Ken, go out for a pass!"

racted lung cancer, which metastasized into her bones. Dad sold the house in FL in 2011, and now lives alone in a double wide mobile home.
The latest addition to our family is our granddaughter, Abigail, born Dec 30, 2008 to Rachael and John. Grandchildren are so much more fun than children!
The cancer in my life has introduced new challenges to our life. I can no longer take care of a house, so we moved on May 30, 2009 to an apartment in Vernon. It is beautiful! We are still in the process of selling our house.
I am not the only family member with huge challenges. In February 2009, my mother learned that she too has lung cancer (not a smoker either), and will join my brother in heaven within a year. I'm grateful that each of our family members knows the Lord Jesus and has put his or her trust in Him as Savior. Whooda thunk when I was in high school that that would someday matter to me! Oh yeah. Jesus "thunk" that all along!
The one thing that has stayed with me all my life has been my piano playing and teaching. I still have a small set of students I teach on Saturday mornings, and I play either a prelude or offeratory in church from time to time. I am gradually losing the ability to play, however, from nerve damage caused by the chemotherapy. I still hope to be able to teach piano for the rest of my life. I wait eagerly for the day when God will restore me to perfect health in Heaven, where I will use my talent solely for His glory.
