Kevin Hall:

CLASS OF 1981
Trotwood, OH

Kevin's Story

Life OK well, BAck in the day when I was in H.S. I was considered one of the under-priviledged Burn-out types:From Drexel..Yes it was where I was raised and I was under privileged....Life has a way of changing how you are after raised..I didnt graduate Trotwood in "81" Instead I got a G.E.D. in '81" from a State institute...Went to Wilmington College for 2 yrs and left with an associates degree in industrial technologies...From This point on life took a turn for the better...Not that The degree actually came in handy.I Like to think this learning experience taught me I could do something other than what everyone else in Drexel was doing: Ie>.Drugs and thievery..education really does open your mind to other opportunities...In the mid 80`s there weren`t many jobs that I could find,so I went into construction(vinyl siding)You know the misfit trades LoL.I worked for 3 yrs surviving the weather.Moved into a duplex down in North Dayton with my 1st wife and her 2 kids and painted it for part of the deposit...I Painted alot better and faster than the management companies painters so they offered me a position with their company that exceeded what I earned braving the elements. From there I went into business for myself as Hall and Sons Painting..Grew to have 3 crews of painters..And divorced my 1st wife .with her 5 yrs then married 1 yr..Very soon after met a woman from Fairborn that worked at WPAFB as I did( I was a painter she was a cleaner of Base housing).Soon after my son was on his way to being born Nov 89. 2 years later my daughter was born.sept91.My oldest was born Oct.86.she isnt mine by blood but I am her father and she my daughter...With no father I adopted her soon after my son was born.November 1990.I retired from painting for a living .I Opened a phone book and called every machine shop I could find>.after Maybe 50 calls I ran into the same person I had talked to around call 5 and the person told me to come in and talk to them the ...Expand for more
following day.I Started work the next day as a toolmakers apprentice.Since then I have worked at alot of machine shops>>.1996 I took a job at E.G&G Pressure Science in Beltsville Maryland in their Machine shop..Making parts for commercial aircraft..After 3 yrs Took a position in one of the manufacturing areas to improve production practices and quality of the product. After 3 yrs of being the Manufacturing engineer in this mentioned Dept. I Had to call it quits... Too much political strife and backstabbing and of course the company was laying off due to 911 and all the aircraft manufacturers going Belly up.Also because I had gotten a divorce from My kids mother and she worked at the same company as I.In Another dept. but still too close...Rehabbed a 40,000 sq ft tobacco barn for near a year. As it was finishing so were my elbows(tennis elbow) from all the long hrs and brutal work.I soon took a job at an aerospace contractor for Nasa as a machinst, and there I reside:Day in day out making parts for satellites such as Xm Radio, serrius, hubble and all space missions...I Love my job...I Have my 3 kids living with me maybe until the end of this school year. One is 14(daughter), one is 16(son) and my 19 yr old(daughter). My 19 yr old graduated early from High school with a 3.8 GPA.She has been taking classes at a local college and working at an emergency vet clinic as a secretary and understudy. My young ones though not disadvantaged as I was as a teen dont do well in school , they have a hard time seeing the value I think.Trying to instill in them the need for education is exhausting but as we have all learned they will make their own mistakes and hopefully learn from them....Its a shame but>>>How it goes. Anyways, I turn 43 tomorrow, single and enjoying this phase in life, alot wiser than 1981... wondering if there is information on a reuniun this year...Our 25th.. wow how time flys...Enough rambling for now........
