Workplace
I used to manage a Borders Express bookstore. It grossed $1 million annually. Best job I ever had. I earned my Real Estate Licenselast year.Great timing...lol!! I did that because the competition (Barnes & Noble) opened the largest bookstore on Maui hoping to gross $10 million a year and they put me and my sister store in Kaanapali out of business. e felt it would be good for my life. I was drifting, and had had my oldest son already. I needed to support him and his mom, and the Army seemed an easy way to do so.
I attended Basic Training at Ft. McClellan in Anniston, AL. After Basic, I returned to my assigned unit in the Washington State National Guard, the 81st Support Battalion. I served between the eras of Vietnam and Grenada, and am thankful I didn't have to fight and kill anyone.
I was discharged Honorably in 1987.
