Kevin's Story

Life Born in Freeport, tx 1957 Lived in Angleton until I was 8 years old. Moved to Freeport. Went to Jane Long, thru 6th grade. Went to Freeport Intermediate thru 8th, then went to Brazosport High for 1/2 of my freshman year. Moved to Lake Jackson after this, and finished high school there. I went to Brazosport college for about two years. Married Cindy (Larson). We met in ninth grade and never had one date with her in high school. We started dating the summer after we graduated from BHS. She went off to college after that summer in San Marcos. We got back together a little over a year later, and were married in September 1977. Moved to Corpus Christi in 1979. While there we had our first two sons, Jeff and Brad. Moved back to Lake Jackson in December of 1984. We started a business in March of 1985 called K-C Tapes & Shipping Sply. Out of our house. Moved it out of the house in 1986. As we grew our business, we also added another son, David in 1987. In 1989 we moved the business again, changed the name to K-C Packaging & Shipping Sply's. In this move we added to our existing business, the first local retail pack and ship center. We out grew that location, and moved in 1997 to the Brazosport Shopping Center, at Plantation Dr and Dixie Dr. We were like a big "UPS Store". Where it is still today. I went through alot of health issues at the end of 2000, and it continued during most of 2001. During this unbelievable rough time, our business started falling off. Cindy and I grew apart. I hated it, and I'm sure Cindy did as well. We ended up divorcing at the end of 2005. I sold the business to a good friend and business associate in Houston in March of 2004. I stayed in LJ to run the now, "AAA Packaging" business through the end of 2005. I moved to Houston in January of 2006, and became the sales manager of AAA Box co. Owned by Rick Hopper who bought K-C Packaging. AAA Box is a business thats been around since 1974. I am also the general manager of AAA Packaging there in LJ. My sons are very accomplished at this stage of their lives. elin during his 5th year. He still lives in San Antonio, and purchased a home about two years ago. After 5 short years with Enterprise Car Rental, he is the manager of the largest car fleet in San Antonio at the Airport location. While being with them he has set records at every location he has managed. He loves it, and is well on his way to going very far with them. Brad, now 26, graduated from A&M with his business finance degree. He went to OCS for the Navy, and is now a Supply Officer. His first duty was off the coast of Rome. He was there for about one year. While he was there he learned to snow ski. He skied at many places in Europe during that year. The port he was stationed at was closed. Next he went through the Panama Canal on his way to Washington state. He did not really like the weather too much, but continued skiing at different places, over the year he was there. Before Brad left Washington he married Jenny Aldrich March 16, 2009. (My first daughter) She is a great gal to have in our family. Brad left in the middle of May, and is now in Afghanistan. He is in Camp Phoenix, just north of Kabul. He will be there for 12 months. Please keep he and Jenny in your prayers. David, now 22, is a double major, at UT. Mathmatics, and Business. He works for UT in there inter-mural programs. He is a supervisor over refs, and umpires. He also runs the inter-mural soccer program. He just finished his fourth year and will graduate this December. David followed his big brother's lead and joined the Navy in June 07. He is in the naval pilot program. As well as his UT paycheck, he is paid as a E-4 by the Navy, while he finishes college. When he completes his studies at UT, he will go to OCS. After OCS, he will go into the pilot training program for about 1-1/2 years. Then he will be a Navy jet pilot for 8 years. I am very proud of my sons, as you can tell. I've been up in Houston now for 3-1/2 years now. The job is good. But, I do miss the small town feel. I have a great church, with lots of new friends. That sure does help when your single. After being married for 28 years. Living alone is something you have to get use to. I also have a great cat. His name is Mack.
