Kevin's Story
Wow, what a long strange trip its been! I can hardly believe its been 30 years! As the Eagles would say, "Life's been good to me, so far"! Kelly and I married in '80, and moved back to Guam for a couple years. We ended up in Wilmington, Ohio after I got out of the military in 1987. We moved to Georgia in 1995 and still live there. I work for the FAA, but am finishing my Master's in teaching and will retire next year ('09) and begin teaching at the middle school Kelly teaches Math at. I can't wait to have summers off together! We ride a motorcycle when we can and enjoy traveling. We have one grandson, Zane by our oldest daughter Meghan. Our son Josh is going in the fall to the Atlanta Institute of Music, and our daughter Emily will be a sophomore in the fall. She rides horses everyday, and is a great student and person. Not everyday is roses, and '07 won't be remembered as that great a year. I was diagnosed with colon cancer in March. I had 13 inches of my colon removed, but didn't need to go through chemo because it was only stage II, and not in my lymph nodes. In June of '07 our daughter gave birth, but it was scary. The baby's cord prolapsed, and she had an emergency C-section. Then, later in June '07, Kelly stepped off the back porch and broke her leg/ankle. She had surgery and a plate and pins installed! We were afraid to leave the house for a while!
Anyway, after cancer I decided there were more important things than making money, and can't wait to begin teaching. My certification is in Special Ed., LD. I'll fit right in!
Anyway, drop me a line and come visit us in Jawja sometime. Can't wait to see you all at the reunion!
