Kevin's Story
Where to begin? After graduation, went to college, graduated and came home and took over the family business(es) with my wife. Eventually forced out of business (a long and painful story). Went to work, eventually landing a dream job with Nissan, but after many years, I found I still had the desire to be my own boss. So, against my better judgement, went deep into debt and bought/opened a Mail Boxes Etc. franchise. This was my introduction to pure corporate greed. If we made a dollar, MBE took 95 cents of it from us in a never ending stream of fees and royalties. Those S.O.B.'s!! After a valiant effort to survive the economic downturn after 9/11, we finally had to close the business and, once again, re-enter the work force. It's been tough, (good jobs for men in their late 40's are kinda scarce here right...Expand for more
now)but we're surviving. During most of this time, we've been raising two wonderful children, ages 15 and 12 (as of this writing), and taking care of my elderly parents here in Tullahoma. Regrets? Yea, some. But like they say; "nothing ventured, nothing gained". Such is life.
Well, it's now 2022, and here's an update. Robbin is retired, I'm a senior Logistics and Supply Chain analyst with Bridgestone/Firestone. We lost mom in 2015 after a long and terrible 10 year battle with Alzheimer's. We just lost dad last November due to pneumonia. Our son is living and working in M'boro, and our daughter is about to get her doctorate in Pharmacy from Auburn. Maybe she can start paying us back for those 7+ years of out of state tuition and I can finally retire. Ha Ha. Hope everyone out there is doing great.
