Kevin's Story

Summer 2012 - After High School I went to Cal Poly, Pomona and became an Electrical Engineer. I worked for McDonnel Douglas for 15 yrs in Long Beach and after Boeing bought them out, I took a job with Honeywell in Phoenix and here I have stayed since then. During my time at McDonnell Douglas, I went back to school and got my MBA from Pepperdine University I have been in Phoenix, Arizona now for a little over a decade. I married my wife Jane almost 20 years ago. She is my best friend and my world. I would be lost without her in life. We have two great daugthers, Haley (16) and Kaitlyn (15). Haley had a great Junior year in HS, is ranked 3rd in her class and has become very independent. Kaitlyn also had a great start in HS, she is ranked 1st in her class (along with 20 other kids). I would love to hear from some of my old classmates from both junior high and high school. I always wonder where everyone ended up and always am glad to read a story of how well they are doing. Summer 2013 - My wife, Jane, has been back in school for almost a year now. She is in school to teach Special Education kids. My kids are still doing great. My oldest, Haley, will start University of Arizona next year. She finished 4th in her class in HS and got a full tuition scholarship. We are very proud of her and hope she does well in College as a pre-pharmacy student. My youngest, Kaitlyn, is a staight A student in HS and will begin her junior year next year. I am enjoying life and family. I will have to adjust soon to having one less at home next year as one leaves for college. Fall 2015 - My wife, Jane, has completed here Special Education school work and now teaches here in AZ at a developmental preschool. My oldest, Haley, is applying for Pharmacy Graduate Schools. She will most like stay at the University of Arizona, Tucson. My youngest, Kaitlyn, started her freshman year at the same school. She also got a full tuition scholarship. She is in the Aerospace Engineering program. It has been hard to get used to not having any kids at home. I was so looking forward to them both being in college, but now I miss them terribly. As I get older and look back, it is funny how I used to look forward to the future and now I just want things to slow down and miss the old times. One thing for sure, time rolls on or over you. LOL For those that read this, I hope your lives have turned out the way you wished them to be or has taken some pleasant unexpected turns. May 2017- Still working for Honeywell in Phoenix, AZ. My wife, Jane, is still teaching developmental pre-school. She does not regret entering the teaching profession. My oldest daughter, Haley, is in Pharmacy School at the University of Arizona. My youngest daughter, Kaitlyn, has switched majors from Aerospace Engineering to Electrical & Computer Engineering. Both my kids are doing well in college. I love being in Arizona, but over the years miss California since my parents and brother are still there. Maybe I will consider moving back to SoCal after my kids are both out of school here in Arizona. I don't think I could stand being too far from them. I hope at the time of this profile update that all my classmates, all which I consider friends, are well and happy with their lives to this point. I start...Expand for more
ed a family late in life, one of my biggest regrets, so I hope everyone with kids has transitioned well after they have left the nest so to speak. Still no definite plans on what I will do when my kids are done with school. go back to SoCal, retire after I replenish my drained savings account after putting the kids through school or maybe find a new hobby. I really need a new hobby. LOL I have lived my life for so many years for and through my kids. I am kind of excited and anxious for what the future holds for me and my wife. April 2019 2018 and 2019 have brought many changes in my life. In March of 2018 after spending my entire career working on aircraft Flight Control Avionics, I moved within Honeywell in Phoenix,AZ to the Engines division working both Jet and Prop Engines along with Auxiliary Power Units. It has been very a challenging, but also a very rewarding experience so far. I could do without the 45 minutes drive to and from work. (I used to travel less than 15 minutes to work) My youngest daughter is graduating from the University of Arizona as an Electrical Engineer next month while my oldest daughter remains in school to become a pharmacist. Jane, my wife is doing fine, she remains the only constant that has not changed the last couple of years. As I have gotten older, I find myself thinking if I have done enough financially for our retirement. I may not be able to retire too early, but I am glad that I am nearer to retirement than the beginning of my career. I hope that all my OLD (LOL) school friends are well and also thinking of what they would like to do in retirement. If we have made it this far in life, we all deserve to think of relaxing, sitting somewhere nice (the beach, mountains or maybe just your favorite recliner) with a drink in hand without worrying about going into work. It may still be 5-6 years away, but a person can dream! October 2022 It has been a long while since I checked in here. My wife, kids and I have eluded coming down with COVID. I am still working for Honeywell in Phoenix, but have moved to a new group that works on integrated cockpit design, it's just a fancy name for working multiple aircraft components. My kids are pretty much on there own living together in Tucson, AZ. My wife is still teaching, but has moved to 1st grade at a Traditional School. I am still dreaming of retirement and what I will do. I had an operation on my hand so that I could play golf again without pain. I am hoping that in retirement I will spend time on the golf course. Still healthy, so we plan to travel a bit. Retirement could come within 2-3 years. The DREAM still lives!! LOL I hope that all my really OLD friends (LOL) are doing well and living their best lives. March 2, 2023 I have moved jobs again within Honeywell in Phoenix. I am now part of Flight Controls. It is where I started when I moved from California. Other than that, the only other big family news is that my youngest daughter took a new job in Colorado. My wife and I are a bit sad that she is moving out of state, but it was a good opportunity for her career. Kids got to grow! My oldest Daughter also took a new job in the epidemiology department for the county health department. Wish everyone the best and hope all are doing well. Bye for now!
