Kevin's Story

After High School I went to St. Johns University for a year but decided to change gears and ended up attending a Computer Technical School. I was hired by Digital Equipment Corporation as an Engineer and worked in Massachusetts, back on Long Island, and then moved to Colorado Springs with Digital in 1988. I went back to college in 1991 and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Regis University with a degree in Computer Science while working full time. I continued to work for Digital as a Consultant/Technologist, and then with Compaq and HP when the buyouts occurred. I went to work for a small startup Storage Company in 2006 here in Colorado Springs and work as a Software Engineer. I was married for 25 years and then ended up getting a divorce 2 years ago. I have three daughters and a son from my marriage. My oldest daughter who is 24 graduated from CSU (Colorado State University) with a degree in Communications in 2007 and now lives in Florida with her boyfriend. Computer Science Degree. I have two beautiful teenage daughters who split time between their mom and I. My 16 year old will be a Junior in high school and my 14 year old will be a Freshman starting next month. My 14 year old is brilliant and wants to be a doctor. I love Colorado and it has been my home for almost 22 years. I take advantage of everything it has to offer. I have stayed in good shape and am an avid skier, mountain hiker (I climb a lot of 14000 peaks), mountain biker, and play on a softball team among my many interests. They say life begins at 50 and I am a firm believer. I have a passion for life and have a chance to start over again, even though it is challenging. I think God was watching over me and gave me a mulligan. :) I am blessed with 4 beautiful children who love and respect me, great family, and a network of great friends around the country. As they say "it's a beautiful thing"! It's not what happens to you in life, its how you deal with it that shows true character!
