Kevin's Story
Life
I currently live in Andrews, Texas. I'm a supervisor at the National Enrichment Facility being built in Eunice, NM. I've been working in the nuclear industry since leaving the Navy in 1994.
Military
I joined the Navy in 1989 and was sent to boot camp in Orlando, FL. That was a unique experience, but physically I didn't find boot camp very hard. After boot camp I went to the Navy Nuclear Power School in Orlando also. I ended up spending over a year in Florida and enjoyed my time there, visiting Datoyna Beach many times. t a Navy Nuclear Power Facility in Saratoga, NY. I loved the summers there, but it was way too cold in the winter. Once I finished with all of my training, I was stationed aboard the USS Virginia (a nuclear powered Cruiser...surface ship) out of Norfolk, VA right at the end of the first Gulf War. I got to see a lot of foreign countries while aboard the Virginia...which was a really great experience. The only downside was also having to spend many weeks not seeing land, which sucked. I ended up getting out of the Navy on October 28, 1994 and started my career in the civilian nuclear power industry.
