Matthew's Story
Life
Wellp, after years of toil and frustration, I'm finally graduating with my B.S.E.E. It was hard for me because I'm not a math person, and Elect. Eng. is all math. Just to give you an idea of how much, it goes all the way to 400 level applied math. Calculus 3 was pretty tough, but after that I still had to go through Laplace, Differential Equations, Linear Systems Analysis, Z transformation, I'm practically a math instructor now.
Anyway, I'm going to have a job soon in Embedded Control so I'll be programming chips to do tasks in bigger systems, nothing real fancy.
Meanwhile, I was asked to design a Tesla Coil for the college Physics club, and its coming along. My photo of the prototype is spitting out about 1 MV, and the finished coil should output 1.7 MV calculated. I have yet to do the analysis on it, but it will be a 6th order differential system, meaning ...Expand for more
it will be a 3x matrix of 2nd order differential equations, very messy!
I'm trying to stay sane by distracting myself with things like playing on the computer, playing my guitar, and some scientific glassblowing. I haven't really met anyone to hang out with which sucks, but I guess that's what I get for staying focused on graduating rather then going out and meeting people. And partying really isn't my kind of event, I'm not really that much fun, so I don't go anywhere.
School
never had one.
College
didn't have any really. I'm pretty boring. (CSULB)
Wow, that was all a long time ago now, Fast forward about 20 years, still not doing much, hahahha, oh well. I've been working at TRW/Northrop Grumman since 2008, collecting electronic toys, and doing engineering stuff. Machining is more fun than electrical, but as long as i'm not idle is all I really care about.
