Kim's Story

Entry: January 24, 2024 Retired ... times three. First as an church pastor, then 30 years in law enforcement and finally as a college professor. I am also a Navy veteran and was stationed in the Gulf of Tonkin, Vietnam. My bride, Esther, and I celebrate our 44th anniversary this year. She did not attend SSFHS. Today, I count it an honor to be a Crisis and Trauma Chaplain. Additionally, I am a Board Certified Master Mental Health Coach, Professional Life Coach and Suicide Prevention Coach. To the South City swim team members who were under the very competent coaching of Mr. Cliff "STUBBS" Sansot and Mr. Pat Davis: Greetings to you. To all of you who lived in the Westborough area, .... what a great time we had. And the friends and acquaintances who attended Ponderosa, Monte Verde, Southwood and South City High: Enjoy your hard earned retirement. We had it ALL ! Boomer Thoughts: 1. I remember being able to get up out of bed and not make sound effects. 2. I run like the 'winded'. 3. I had my patience tested. I'm negative. 4. The older I get, the earlier it gets late. 5. I finally got 8 hours of sleep. It took me 3 days, but whatever. 6. I don't mean to interrupt people. I just randomly remember things and get really excited. 7. The South City swim team used to sing 'Home on the Range' on the bus. We were a bit neurotic even then. 8. Sometimes, someone unexpected comes into your life out of nowhere, makes your heart race, and changes you forever. We call those people cops. (..like me!) 9. through some rough terrain. We look this way because some of the roads weren't paved. 10. There was a 10th but I forgot.... I trust that all who attended the 50th reunion for the Class of ‘72 on September 17th, 2022 had a warm time reminiscing and reacquainting. In Remembrance: Mr. Howard Dudune, 1930-2016, student music teacher and professional musician. I enjoyed seeing him play his sax and clarinet in S.F. in 2016, the year he passed away. He was a marvelous and stunning musician. August 6, 2022: I contacted swim coach Cliff "Stubbs" Sansot. I asked him to send me a greeting to all those whom he knew from the Class of '72, especially in the spirit of the 50-year reunion. He sent me the following sentiments: ""50 years! Guess I'm old! When Kim asked me to write something for his profile, he said that I probably would not remember him. As soon as I saw his name, I could see that teenager vividly. My fondest memories are still of my interactions with those in my classroom and those that I coached. I still remember the names and faces of most of those I taught and especially those that I coached. In 2003, after 40 years in the classroom, I retired to Arizona, where I'm active and enjoying life. I wish to THANK all those young men and women, who I had the pleasure of associating with over the years. You kept me young and helped make my life worthwhile. Enjoy your reunion." Coach Sansot is 35 years young, ... celebrated 49 times! ... and lives in Saddlebrook, AZ. With regards and respect, Kim Castro Class of '72
