Kim's Story
Life
Bob Sorey and I have been married for almost 19 years now! We have a beautiful daughter, Kalee. She is a second semester freshman at Cumberland University. She is planning on transferring to UTC in the fall to study business marketing. That will be a very difficult move for both Kalee and myself. She and I are really close. I grew up with her considering I had a lot of growing up to do at 18. Bob calls us the "Gilmore Girls". That's a pretty accurate description.
I teach high school math...algebra, algebra II, intermediate algebra....I know...ugh, but I like it, and it allows me to have the same holidays as Kalee. I started teaching at MJHS back in 1999. I really never intended on working but rather be a stay-at-home mom. However, Bob and I had a dream to own our dream home by the time we were 30. We needed just a little extra income to get started. . We were a year late, but we did it. I decided to keep on working because I enjoyed it. After that first year, I was transferred to Wilson Central. I'm still there. I had considered "graduating" this year with Kalee, but now I'm reconsidering...we'll see.
Bob is a huge success. About 4 years ago he quit working at PFG Lester's to become a realtor for Cumberland Real Estate and Auction. I was scared to death!! I still eventually want to quit work. I never intended to work to retirement. This was a huge move. However, as usual Bob worked with more determination than I ever have seen. He's now the principal broker of the new Mt. Juliet Cumberland Real Estate and Auction office. He was number 2 out of the entire company in 2006. This is HUGE!! He loves what he does.
I'm happy. I've been very blessed. I know most of you who remember Bob and me thought we'd never make it. In truth, it has been hard, but great things are worth working for and worth fighting to keep.
