Kim's Story

Hi Everyone - I hope this finds everyone well and good. 2010 - OMG, I haven't updated this in a while but the best thing is my 21 yr old son,Cody, just made me a brand new grand-mother 9 weeks ago. WOW, what a feeling. It just don't get no better than that. My daughter-in-law Ashly...I wonder sometimes if she wasn't meant to be my daughter. They say that boys will marry a girl just like Mom. Boy, did Cody do that. Altho she is much prettier, it turns out, she is also a barrel-racer so until she got pregnant, she and I were hitting rodeos all over Arkansas. She just getting started on a horse that belonged to my mom. She is a little timid but she's getting it. Cody, 21 and Dusty, 19 are both going to Arkansas Tech. Cody still in health and wellness and Dusty in the arts. Taking after his fathers side of the family, being very artistic. Kinda got my heart broke in the fall of last year when my dad remarried a woman from Sheridan, who runs a day-care enter out of her home. She and my Dad recently became foster-parents. The marriage didn't bother me so much as when he sold the house. So many memories there, both good and bad with mom. I think it will be hard for me to even drive by the house next time I'm in town. As far as my dad remarrying, he is 67 yrs old and if this new new gal makes him happy and will help him live longer, I'm all for it. Takecare everyone. 2008 - After graduation, I took a year off before going back to school for Medical Assisting. I never worked a day in the field but it did come in handy, taking care of my horses and dogs. As you all may or may not know, I have been estranged from my mother for several years. It remained that way until she passed away in May 2004 from complications of Diabetes. I always said that I wouldn't set foot back in Sheridan, but that all changed when Mom died. I had been having a relationship all along with my Dad, so he kept me informed on how she was doing. In '86, I went to work for U.P.S. which is where I met my husband. We celebrated our 20th year anniversary this past January. I have two sons, Cody, 19, who was born in Sheridan and Dusty, 17, born in Bloomington. Thank God, unlike me, they are both excellent students and both high school football stars. Cody is now in the National guard, studying health and wellness. He wants to be a physical therapist, being a team doctor on the football field. Cody graduated in 2007, with a $400,000 scholarship from the gua...Expand for more
rd. He is the all-time leading wide-reciever for Hector Arkansas. The boy dosen't know how to drop a football. He is now in his Freshman year at Arkansas Tech University. Dusty, my self-professed (even now) Mama's boy, is in his senior year of high school. He plays noseguard. At 6'5" and 245 pounds, he has no problems. This past Friday night, he had 17 sacs and was named star player of the game. He's being recruited by Arkansas, Texas and Oklahoma. I always wondered that if I had stayed in Sheridan, what Coach Wright might have done with my boys. Sorry about all my bragging about my boys. I'm not proud of them at all ;-) In '95, we moved to Montana. Later I went to truck driving school in Denver. My husband drives over the road and I had always wanted to drive a semi. We drove team until 2004 until my Mom passed away. Back to Sheridan we went. She passed about an hour after we arrived. My boys took her death hard, even tho they didn't know her. I soon found out why. They were scared for me and asked me to come off the road and stay home until they graduated. January, this year, we lost my brother Pat to Muscular Dystrophy. I had moved him and his family to Arkansas to help take care of him. Back to Sheridan to bring my Dad down here to help me with the funeral arrangments. When I took my Dad back home to Sheridan, he informed me that with all us kids out on our own and Mom and Pat's deaths, he couldn't bear the horses anymore. Too many memories. Not wanting to sell them to strangers, he sent them all home with me. While we were in Sheridan, something interesting happened. Cody went to the park to play basketball. He befriended several boys and they ended up going to the gym at the school to play. He said it was wierd being in my old school playing ball. Too funny. It's been a bad year for me after losing my brother but my dad sending the horses home with me has been very theraputic for me. They keep me busy and help me to cope. I found that you have to trust in God for he has his reasons for everything. I also found that after 18 years of not even seeing Sheridan, I missed it terribly. Going home every once in a while keeps me grounded. Take care all, Kim I always wanted to be a pro-barrel racer and a blacksmith when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a grat idea. As it turns out, they were disapointed because I drove a semi over the road with my hubby, which meant I was never home.
