Kim's Story

Life Hi everyone! I hope you all are doing well and are where you want to be! OK...concerning my pics, I don't have any recent ones but as soon as I get one I'll post it! We are all doing great here in the Patino household. My kids are sprouting like beans and I'm realizing that I will be 34 in a month or so. My oldest daughter, Shelbie, is 13 (yikes!), and is the sweetest, kindest, giving 13 yr-old I know. She plays the piano and is a sweet sister to her two younger siblings. Then comes Joey, who is 8. He's my little quarterback. He plays flag football and loves it. He's your typical little brother who loves to bug his sisters but he knows he could never live without them. Finally, there is Maddie. She is soon to be 7 and does ballet and tap. She's also a sweet-hearted little girl who wanted to be a veterinarian until she walked into an animal clinic and then changed her mind. She couldn't handle the smell. She still loves animals so she wants to be a pet detective. We'll see! Joe and I have been married for over 10 1/2 years. It seems like such a long time until I think of our parents who've been married 35+ years. Joe graduated from Klein Oak High School in '89. He was a musician (with a band called Twenty Mondays) until his band was going in a not-so-good direction so he and his brother got out. He played guitar, bass and sang and he still sings and plays in our church. Joe has a twin brother, Jay, who also married a "Kim" so our lives are busy with trying to help people keep us straight. They live four houses down so we're pretty close. Another funny thing...my son, Joey, was born on Joe and Jay's birtday and Jay's daughter was ...Expand for more
born the day before. We have a very expensive June! We still live in Spring where it is growing and growing. So much that I think I'm ready to leave. We attend Founder's Baptist Church (formerly know as Spring Memorial) and have been there for 9 years. I have learned so much at our church. I was not a Christian until I was 22. Even though I grew up going to church, I was not a Christian and had many misconceptions about it. I can now say that I know what it means to be a Christian. Salvation isn't something you earn but it's given, freely, if you are sorry for your sins and know you need a Saviour in Jesus Christ, know that He died and was punished in our place. So it's not just saying you believe in God but living your life for Him. That's my little witnessing moment. I homeschool my kids and love it. Shelbie went to Twin Creeks Middle School last year for 7th grade and did very well only making one B the whole year (the rest A's). She played volleyball with Ms. Ward and Ms. Burgin and ran track, too. She will be home again this year but taking a writing class (which I can't teach and she's really good at). There are so many options for homeschoolers now. It's very exciting to see my kids grow and learn, even from me! My life has changed drastically since high school. I'm thankful for the opportunity to teach them. I've realized that our kids are our future (sounds cliche') and they will be the ones deciding which nursing home to put us in! I think of many of you often and wonder how you are. I hope this gives you a slight insight into my world now these days. I hope all who read this are doing very well! Hope to run into you soon! -Kim
