Kim's Story

After graduation, I attended Palm Beach Atlantic for a bit, and then transferred to University of Florida. At UF, and for some time after graduation, I had a very cool job at a non-profit organization, NCFAN. I worked with outreach programs, fund raising campaigns, newsletters, and volunteer management. I met Leo in Gainesville while he was on an exchange program called "Business for Russia". Part of the requirement for that program was that he had to return to Russia for a period of time. I ended up going to Russia for about a year where I taught English to a variety of differnt levels of speakers (some of which had never said "hello"). Unfortunately, I didn't learn to speak much Russian in my time there, but I did get to see a lot of snow :) When we got back, we both took jobs in technology fields. After about a year he landed a job at Dell and has been there ever since. I have had a couple of different typs of roles (recruiting, HR, implementation, business analyst) and am currently the director of business analysis for a data company. Our jobs had us relocate a couple of times (FL to VA, back to FL) and we have now landed ourselved in northern Geo...Expand for more
rgia -where my University of Florida patio chair nearly causes riots when we have folks over! :) As far as hobbies go, I always wanted to be a musician or in the music industry when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a longshot idea. As it turns out, they were right -but I still love music. My giganormous hard drive full of my favorite music is my most time consuming hobby. My daughters also enjoy music - and Olga is quite the guitar player - electric and acoustic. Ali is more of a fan, unless Rock Band and Guitar Hero count! :) With a busy family life (two teenage girls in the house) and a nuts schedules at work (Leo travels and I am gone from what seems like sunup to sundown), the family loves to blow off steam daily by running our dog Delilah around and then cooking dinner and vegging out (well Leo and I veg, the girls do homework). Every year we try to take a couple of interesting vacations. Some of the anniversary trips have been to the Bahamas, St. Thomas, Dublin Ireland, Prague Czech, and this year Curacoa. Other cool trips have been to Las Vegas, Israel (for the millenium), and family trips for skiing on spring break in Quebec.
