Kim's Story
Retired from Air Force as Major after receiving my comission in 1977 following graduation from UConn. I had a fun-filled, challenging military career and then went back to school at WSU in KS, received my BSN and became a nurse following retirement.
I no longer fit in the clothes I had when I was 18, my hair is still mostly brown and I have donated to Locks of Love 5 X in memory of my mother who lost her beautiful hair and life to cancer. I am growing it again because I recently found out I, too, have an inoperable brain tumor, just in case they decide to give it a try.
I loved my jobs: nurse in a busy ER and volunteer nurse for the uninsured, poor and unregistered aliens at a clinic while in Kansas, psych nurse, SICU, Cardiac, Trauma, school nurse... I am now a volunteer for the Kansas State disaster task force and am a paid forensic nurse at a local hospital, trying to mend my workaholic ways.
The Spanish Mr Mercik taught me has come in handy in places I never dreamed of being! I also used to moonlight selling wine at a liquor store and waitress at a sports bar (and some of you may remember the Villa)and drive a bus and a limo. I learned to fire a weapon and operate a backhoe. I loved working at the LEGO factory!

year we graduated HS and my father died the day of the OJ Simpson chase. My youngest child is over 21 and no grandchildren yet, which is a good thing. I hoped they would be able to see some of the world on their own and further their education first.
I moved back to AZ in 2008, continuing to nurse and to see the rest of the world. I hate the cold! but I'm back in KS anyhow!
I have had many friends in high and low places. I didn't get here the way I thought I would when I was 17, but things have a funny way of working out. I hope you remember me as one of the living; life to the fullest and ready for almost anything(love horseback riding, scuba diving (PADI)and... snow skiing if I am auditioning for the agony of defeat) and not just because of my brother. I've been sky diving, I've been Rocky Mountain climbing, haven't spent that 2.7 seconds on a bull named Fu Man Chu... (country song) I am learning to dance again! My biggest surprise is that I did make it to where I am. I hope you all are content too.
btw, I did get to fly a jet as foretold in our HS class prophecy.
Alaska is the only state I have left to see. I've been to several islands, Europe, Panama, Canada and Mexico. Most places I'd like to go again!
It does snow for the holidays here, but gets warm again in May; I have one B&B open for old friends.....
I would like to hear from anyone that remembers me.
