Kim's Story
A quick note to catch up on life. After our 10 year class reunion I decided that I had not really done anything after high school. I had quit school early on to pay rent!!. Then shortly after that I got married, had my daughter, worked at circle K part time, and sold tupperware. The next Monday, August 18th, 1993, after the reunion I decided to enrolled at FCC. Was not quite sure what I was going to do but knew I needed to get started doing somthing.
The first class I took was Nutrition and found my calling, I loved it. From there I finished an AS degree, got divorced, moved back to Clovis, went to CSUF, majored in Food and Nutrition.. minored in Dietitics & chemistry, completed a one year internship at CSUF with a Masters program, got married again!! (to Kevin Helmey, who I knew during high school) and became a Registard Dietitian.
I immediatly went to work for State Center Community College District at Reedley College as the Food Service Director.

w currently employed with a Computer Software Company, Computrition, as a Project Manager. The company is based in LA, but I am able to work from my home in Reedley where I live with my husband, 2 dogs and 6 cats. I use my knowledge in Dietetics and technology to assist customers worldwide in implementing our software. I also teach Nutrition courses online and in class for Reedley College.
Most recently I have returned to school to complete a Masters Degree in Education with an emphasis on technology. I am planning to semi-retire in about 6 years and plan on teaching either at the college or high school level part time.
I have been able to travel all over the US as well as internationally. This past summer I traveled to Japan & South Korea to work with the Armed Forces, Army, Navy, Marines and Air Force.
I have two beautiful grandchildren, Tristan, 2 1/2 and Ava, 8 months. My daughter is finishing her degree at CSUF and lives with her husband in Kingsburg.
