Kim's Story
Well where do I begin, it's been 30 years since I graduated from high school. It has been a truly eventful time and I have been truly blessed to be here today and sharing with you my story. Two years after graduation while I was in my sophomore year at EKU , I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Disease.
I began taking chemotherapy in February 1980. I tried to return to EKU in the fall of 1980, but midway through the semester I came home. I decided to take some classes at JCC, until I completed my chemotherapy. During the next few years I would have my spleen removed and go through several regimens of chemotherapy, but this did not deter me from getting my Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology from EKU in May of 1983.
My career in Medical Technology has been a very rewarding one for me, I've worked at Southwest , Audubon, and Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital where I'm t...Expand for more
he Senior Clinical Laboratory Specialist in Microbiology. In December, 1989 I had an autologous bonemarrow transplant at University Hospital, after being in remission for 7 years from my Hodgkin's Disease. I'm glad to say that I have been cancer free since that time.
I currently reside in PRP and I'm single. I've been able to travel extensively with my cousins. We've traveled to almost all of the 50 states, highlights include Alaska, several trips to California touring the wine country, and many trips to the National Parks.
My favorite detination to date was a trip we took to Australia.
Besides traveling, I enjoy golfing, swimming and going to the movies. I'm also involved in a couple of different ministries at my church. I stay very busy attending the ballgames of my niece and nephews.
So as you can see I've been very blessed. I have my health and a great family.
