Kim Korringa:

CLASS OF 1972
Santa rosa, CA

Kim's Story

I've been living in Mountain View for the last 30 plus years. I went to SRJC and transferred to SF State, but never pursued work in my major of Journalism. I married my husband Maarten in 1981 (still married!). We live in the heart of Silicon Valley, and in the 80's I worked as a technical illustrator and graphic artist for some of the tech firms down here. My husband has had an interesting career as a design engineer and currently works on linear accelerators for medical applications. We had our daughter, Avalon, in 1983 and our son, Peter, in 1990. After the birth of our second child in 1990, I reinvented myself as a jewelry artist working in metal and polymer clay. I sold my work locally, taught classes a...Expand for more
nd contributed to several books on polymer clay art. When our kids were older, I took my business on the road doing the "Art and Wine circuit" along the west coast, which I still do today. It's kind of a gypsy/circus lifestyle driving from venue to venue during the summer and fall setting up our tents and artwork at dawn, and packing up and leaving town a couple of days later. My kids (now 22 and 28) live within an hours drive of us, and we have a very happy life. I have kept in touch with a few close friends from SRHS - Caitlin Campbell, Susan Barber, Kathy Sherak and Patrice Veneziano. I don't visit Santa Rosa anymore - it has changed so much, and I prefer to keep it unchanged in my memory. Best to all!!
