Kim's Story
I have stayed in touched with a few that I have been friends with for many years and also some people through Face Book, the VFW Post and the Eagles in Wilmington and also through our business, I run into to some of you at a store or in passing at events, etc. A little about me since our school days, I married Lance Spurlock in July 1999, we have been together for 28 years total, I worked at Kurz-Kasch for 27 years went from being a molder to a team leader of injection molding then the last 10 years I spent in the HR/Payroll department. I left when my husband started his plumbing business " Spurlock Plumbing" to help him build his business. We don't have any Children but we have many nieces, nephews and also great nieces and nephews, they range in ages from 30 yrs of age to one being on the way in Jan 2020. Our oldest niece Mandy ( My Sister )Jeanie's daughter. is the oldest and she gave me the name of " Mim and it has stuck with me over the years., so they all call me that. Our house is the" hang out" place to be in the summer with all the kids and family, the kids love to swim in the pool, ride their battery powered "Herbie" car, have lawn mower races, pitch a tent and camp out, play baseball, corn hole, cook out's, bon fires, and of corse free wifi for all their games on their phones or tablets, they love to go fishing with us or just to come down and hang out with us "old folks", so any given weekend we have kids around, I recently took guardianship of my 58 yr old cousin who is mentally disabled and lives in a home in Ross County, all of his siblings (except his 4 half sisters) and his Mom and Dad are gone, I promised his brother. Ray Gene Burns (who lived with us most of his life) that I would take care of Bobby before he passed away. Bobby stays two to three weekends a month with Lance and I and he is truly an awesome guy that loves to be with all of us and he loves watching the kids play, I love to see him smile and enjoy himself when he is here. dogs and they are spoiled rotten, we have a "hobby Farm" with layer hens and soon to have a pig, goat and cow, the hens are so funny to sit and watch when they are out running in the yard, I guess they are spoiled also.. As some of you may remember I have 1 older sister, Jeanie and 2 younger brothers J.R and Bub, they are 15 years younger then myself and Jeanie. We (Jeanie and I) lost our dad 34 years ago, and then lost our step dad " Pop" of 36 years past away 7 years ago, Our Mom is still going strong. My family means the world to me and they always will, I always put them first before my own needs cause they have kids and I would never see them go without, Lance and I are not rich by any means nor do we care to be, but we have what we need and we are happy, I can't work due to health issues, I was born with Arthritis in my shoulders and over the years it has spread through my body with 3 different types and Fibro on top of that, but I stay busy and active cause if we sit we rust! We bought our home 21 years ago out in the country in Hillsboro, Ohio, we love it down here far enough away from town but close enough to run to town if we need something. Lance does 99% of his work in Wilmington, I have the Office in our home which works out great, I can keep up with all the yard we have to mow and do other things as well.. I love living where we live but Wilmington will always be my home, I go there 3 or 4 times a week to do the business stuff. My cousin Tammy Shattuck Sheridan lives 5 minutes from me, so we get to visit a lot, This is me pretty much in a nut shell, I may not have it all but I have all I need!!! I have some great memories of some of you from the class of 84, I feel so bad for the friends that we have lost over the years, and also for the friends that have lost their way over the years with some that are no longer with us. Time has a way of catching up with us and before we know it another year has past and we are a year older, so LIVE WHILE YOU'RE LIVING . .
