Kimberly's Story

Life My Life; Grew up on a big ol' pig farm and learned what hard work really is! Went to college and got degree in Architecture then the stock market crashed in 90. Decided I wanted a change so went into the military! Geez, talk about dropping off a cliff headfirst! I love it! I have seen more than most will see in their lifetimes. Have explored 13 countries and learned 3 languages. Has been a wild ride! Been in 3 wars-or "endeavors" as they call them. Earned several designations and became an assistant art teacher for elementary kids.(because so many people pushed me to pursue my artistic background) My Job: I work and incredible amount of hours a day and weekends but it is in the pursuit of developing both avenues that I have chosen to follow. My artistic talents as well as my analytical and technical interests. Right Brain/Left Brain syndrome I guess! HA!! I also love to travel and see the world (one reason I went into the military) School Elementary school was a blurr..I was always in the hall getting in trouble for talking. ha! Remember the days when you actually got paddled by the principal when you were sent out to the hall? High School..a time of discovery..some areas I wish I would have never discovered..but hey, it gave me some street smarts to prepare me for later...joining the military! Try getting respect from men on a ship when you are 5' tall and 130lbs! The NAVY has been an incredible learning experience and has really allowed me to soar in learning what my true potential was. I learned I could do just about anything I wanted to do in life. I made rank really quick and wit...Expand for more
h hating math and flunking it all through school I might add, I wound up being an Aviation Electrician. Working on some of them most sofisticated electronic equipment that you can imagine. Ha. Go figure. I have so many great worldly travel adventure stories to tell my grandchildren...if I ever get married! Kinda hard to get married when you are never anywhere long enough to establish a relationship! But, I have the rest of my life to do that. I am not too old yet! ha! With all the wonderful encouragement I got from my parents and friends through the years, I started my own stained glass business. I have a website and an ebay store and have two employees that manage things while I am away. Trying to run a business and being away alot is a challenge..but the Navy made me a tough old bird and has shown me there is no such thing as limitations and an 8-hour day. Hey remember our graduation party out at my house when I lived on the farm...when the neighbor boy and his friends came over and bombed us with rotten tomatoes from our greenhouses? And the band party cookout back in the woods..what a hoot! Workplace Work, work, work....what's to say besides I have to stay focused and the detail is critical. I am responsible for the lives of any pilot that gets in an aircraft that I have done repairs to with regard to the communication and navigation equipment. My work is dangerous and drains you physically and emotionally because there is no room for error. However, the rewards of a good days work and serving your country and serving behind those who are responsible for our freedom gives me great pride.
