Kimberly's Story

When I look back on my experience in high school, I can only say that it made a profound impact on who I am today. It really opened my eyes on how so many people are different in this world. And how we can can't see these differences either good or bad until later in life. I made high school a bit difficult for my self. Not neccessarily making very many friends that I could feel were honest. But at the same time, how many of us look back on that era of our lives and not second guess our choices? We all would be surprised to know who went into the military to fight for our country, how many of us started our own businesses. How many of us are happy mothers and fathers. And how many of us didn't quite make the journey anywhere. I myself, started off on a very shaky path. Not sure what to do, where my motivation was. I married, had my son, and divorced within several years. Realizing that what is importand in life is making sure my son and I are secure and happy. I have been in veterinary medicine since my early twenties. And still am. I finally found the love of my life 5 years ago and got remarried with a step-daughter almost my son's age. It was perfect. My husband is a EMT/Firefighter in Oregon. I am beginning the stages of starting a catering business and if that takes off then opening up a small town restaurant. My passion for cooking I found actually in high school home ec. The irony. My husband and I have obviously 2 dogs. As seen in the pics. We got our family activated in helping this breed find permanent or temporary homes thru fundraisers and shelters. And are activists for the treatment and wellbeing of mistreated pugs. We have instilled on our children that everyone and thing has the opportunity to be loved and cared for. From that my daughter too wants to be a veterinarian. id not have that kind of role-model. Ever since my son was 5, he loved sea life. Mainly sharks. At age 9, he knows more about sharks and the ocean than we do. When I look at the only child I brought in this world, I gasp with amazement. He is exactly what I always imagined my child would be like. He has overcome a lot early on in his life. He was diagnosed with an immune disorder that can be seriously dangerous. He has been hospitalized more times than I can count. He has had surgeries and tests done that I couldn't even imagine myself going thru. I look at him so full of energy and courage. What a wonderful man he will become. There are no words to express my husband. He is the person that showed me life isn't supposed to be day by day. That life is what it was, is and will be. He is the man who held my hand when I was diagnosed with cancer. And insisted on being there in the room during the surgery. He is the person who taught me to laugh at myself for all the stupid stuff I do or say. He has taught me that even a big strong firefighter can even shed a tear while watching the movie NOTEBOOK. He is the person who keeps my approaching 35 year old attitude in check! (All the ladies know what I am talking about. We do get a bit crazy) But at the end of each day, I know that this man chose me to share his life with. Good times and tough ones. Looking back, I regret some of my choices in high school. Some memories will be ones I cherish forever. I was truely a completely different person back then. Going through some very difficult personal problems. Finding it was easier to be alone than to have to many close friends. I am looking for some connections to the past. Some that helped me get thru all of it. Some that helped being there. (Even though they didn't know it.) Well, that is it in a nutshell. Thanks you all
