Kimberly's Story

After graduation, I completed my freshmen year at Lord Fairfax Community College. I then went to Longwood College and received my BS in Elementary Education 4-8. I also picked up the course work to be certified N,K-4. I student taught in Hopewell, VA and met my future husband. I then stayed in this area getting a 5th grade position in Prince George County, VA. Prince George is about 30 minutes southeast of Richmond. After 4 years at the elementary level, I moved to the middle school teaching 8th grade Civics (government, law, economics). The county changed things around and now I am at the Jr. High doing the same thing. During that time I earned my Masters in Educational Administration and Supervision PreK-12. I have not persued a principalship because I have a 5 year old and I love my summers off and with him. I married my husband in 2001 and had Blake in 2003. he Fall and I am STRESSED about it! He's my baby! We love the beach, and go to Outer Banks as much as possible. When we're not at the beach, we're out on the boat on the river. I am not real crazy about the river. Don't get me wrong, I love fishing, but I am not real crazy about them coming up and sucking on my leg! lol And of course, when Blake eats a snack he drops some in the water and here they come! I DO NOT teach summer school and never will! When I first moved down here and had to watch every penny, I still did not teach summer school. That old saying: Why do I teach, for June, July, and August! We attend Bethlehem Congregational Church. My husband's extended family makes up most of the congregation. I miss Front Royal a great deal, but find it hard to go back there. So much has changed, it doesn't feel like home. I love driving up I66 and seeing those beautiful mountains! My son always says "WE'RE HERE!" when he sees the mountains.
