Kimberly's Story
Found out Monday, 09-22-14 my left breast had a suspicious mass with malignant cancer appearance. Left in shock. Mortality tends to sit at a reasonable distance until a serious diagnosis is made. It then rears its ugly head and gets up in your face, far too close and personal.
Being seen at nearest cancer center 2-3 hrs inland from where we're blessed to live on the OR coast. Salem Cancer Institute in Salem, OR has been incredible in it's compassionate and superior care. Saw surgery doctor 09-25 for initial consult, core biopsy 09-29 confirmed Stage II Beast Cancer. Lumpectomy Wed, 10-08 along with sentinel node biopsy surgery.
Post surgery pathology report showed 2.1 cm cancer tumor completely removed from deep inside breast, clear margins without cancer from surrounding tissue and no cancer in lymph nodes. Humbled and joy filled at God's redemptive grace and mercy.
Had initial consult with hematology doctor. Decision made for genomics testing done to hopefully rule out need for chemo treatment. Results took 3 weeks to receive but ended up totally worth the wait. Prayer lifted up for low score, it was received, so no chemo needed.
Low score also meant increase in survival rate to 96% with 5-10 years of daily hormone therapy. Next phase of cancer journey begins 11-18 as move into radiation therapy treatment daily M-Fri for 6-7 weeks. Will live in one of four rooms at hospitality house near hospital until radiation done after new year.
Share this news as desire to share importance of early cancer diagnosis. Please take time and get tested as/if needed for cancer, you're worth it!! Keeping my eyes firmly fixed on God who's mighty to save, and loves each of us with love beyond compare.
Appreciate your good thoughts and prayers, Kimberly <3

~ Personal Thoughts & Reflections:
As our world spews up tsunami waves of horrific tragedy's; abuse, injustice, cruelty, terrorism and the myriad atrocities of those choosing to embrace destructive ideology, may we do what we can to turn the tide. It can often seem over whelming, as if we can't stop the insanity from unraveling. The 'good news' is there is hope.
Hope burns bright as we take the ember burning within our hearts and fan the flame, ignite the spirit. As we show grace, mercy and love to those who are wrongly suffering. We do this when we show compassion, empathy, forgiveness and love towards the persecuted, especially the innocents of our world who cannot speak for themselves.
This 'living hope' is amplified for me through Jesus. In Him eternal hope dwells. This is not to say I live in a la-la land of religiosity or turn away from the reality of the ugliness and atrocities rearing up from the dark choices of selfish, irrational and evil people. I simply believe, with all my heart, mind and spirit, without the living hope we have in Jesus Christ life is without genuine meaning, purpose or lasting value.
May we all do what we can to turn the tide of abject injustice, intolerable cruelty and outright hatred, stemming it's destructive flow from our world within our life time. For our children, for our families, for the innocent victims and persecuted people all over the world. It's a personal choice and amazing privilege to do so. Consider this, we don't 'have to', we 'get to'.
Throughout it all wishing Merry Christmas and Happy New Year blessings of joy, hope, peace and love to you and your loved ones!!
May you always remember, may you come to know, may you etch upon your heart this important truth beloved; Jesus. Loves. You. <3
Hugs, Kimberly
