Kindra's Story

After graduating from High school, I spent my Freshman year at University of Utah, where my favorite class was my downhill ski class during winter quarter... it guaranteed that I got to ski at least once a week! I went to school as a psychology major thinking that I wanted to specialize in child psychology. After taking some psychology classes I began to second guess my major and took a required nutrition class and fell in love with the topic. I changed my major and with no undergraduate nutrition degree available at Utah, went back to California and ended up at Cal Poly, SLO. I graduated in 1996 from Cal Poly with my B.S. in Nutrition. Following graduation I had the incredible opportunity of going to Atlanta and working in the Olympic Village for the summer games. I ended up back in Utah working for a couple of years at Primary Children's Medical Center, then moved to Scottsdale Arizona where I worked full time at a skilled nursing facility and also worked for Major League Baseball's Arizona Fall League where my boss was Frank Robinson and I was fortunate enough to meet a lot of current and former MLB players including Mark Grace, who I have been helping out at his annual charity event every year since then. After a couple of years in Arizona I decided to go back to school for my Masters Degree. I went to grad school at University of Utah where I received my masters degree in Nutrition. llenging. I was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer while working on my master's thesis, and now over 5 years out I consider myself a survivor! I worked as a Registered Dietitian in Daly City and Moss Beach California before returning to Arizona (Tucson this time), returned to Stockton for two years working at Dameron Hospital, and am now working in a hospital in the north suburbs of Chicago. I live in downtown Chicago and love it! I walk out of my building and look up and see the Hancock tower, and look down the street to the left and just a block and a half away I see Lake Michigan. I sold my car when I moved here and love being a city dweller. I like to rollerblade and ride my bike along the lake, and the fact that there are 2 MLB teams here is great... although I am an Arizona Diamondbacks fan (was fortunate enough to be at games 1 and 2 of the 2001 world series against the yankees), I love baseball, and can get plenty of games in here. I did not make it back to the Lincoln 10 year reunion. I had planned to, but opted to be in Utah for the birth of my nephew Armstrong. Although I do not have kids of my own, I am an aunt to a wonderful niece and nephew, and love to spend time with them. While I was in Utah for grad school I was able to introduce both of them to baseball at the AAA team games there. I do make a trip back there for a week every winter to ski with them as well. That's my life so far. Would love to hear yours.
