King's Story
Life
After graduating FPMHS, I went to Hamilton College, where I graduated after 3 years (thanks to all those AP classes in HS) with a BA in Physics. I took a year off and lived and travelled in Denmark and Scandanavia. I went to Penn State for 2 years to get an MS in Acoustics. From there, I got a job with IBM in Manassas, VA, working as an Acoustics (and later Systems) engineer on Navy, Army and Air Force programs. I've worked for them for nearly 20 years (20th anniversary on 8/5/2005). IBM sold my division to Loral, who then sold it to Lockheed Martin, who then sold it to BAE Systems. During that time, I had the opportunity to live and work in England for a year and Florida for a year without having to give up my house in VA. ime to move on. We had decided that south (i.e., warmer) was preferred. So, I interviewed for a job that would have required (that sounds like a bad thing, but wasn't really) living in England for 5 - 7 years. Instead, they made me an offer (I couldn't refuse) to move to Binghamton, NY and take a promotion to executive staff reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (a position I could never rise to in the engineering ranks).
Beth (from Columbus, OH) and I went to my FPMHS 25th reunion in 2004. We had a great time!
I'm still playing the oboe on a regular basis, in the Binghamton Community Orchestra and the Southern Tier Concert Band, as well as whatever freelance gigs come up.
I've had to give up all team sports - too many knee injuries - but at least I can still walk (for now).
