Valarie's Story
Life
After Saugus High I went to College of the Canyons for a year then transferred to the University of Hawaii. That was fun, but a bit hard to concentrate on school work there. So, I switched to UCLA and moved back to Southern CA. I studied archaeology at UCLA, graduated, and then spent a year working in Washington, DC. I worked at the Smithsonian for a while and then on Capitol Hill. While I was in DC I applied to grad schools and ended up at Yale. After finishing there I worked in a couple of museums in Connecticut. In 1991 I got married to my wonderful husband, Kevin. of a Frank Lloyd Wright designed house. After that I started a consulting business doing curatorial work for museums around the country. 1996 saw the birth of our first daughter, Meghan. We had a second daughter, Madison in 2003 (Madison was a little surprise to us all). Madison will be 2 in August. Meghan is now 8. As a family we do alot of sailing and spend summers at our beach house. We also spend lots of time tracking Kevin's climbing adventures. In his day job he works in finance, but when he takes time off he is climbing mountains. Our big project presently is that we are building a new house. We hope to have it finished next summer.
