Kirk's Story
Life
After graduating I went into the Army for six years as a medic (three years as a flight medic with the 54th Mast unit at Ft. Lewis) from 74-80. During this time I completed my paramedic training, after getting out of the army I went to work for South Kitsap Fire and Rescue as a Firefighter/ Paramedic near Bremerton and am still working there 27 years later on a advanced life support unit. I have been married 26 years to my wife Cindy, with four grown kids Kyle, 33 who lives in Olympia and owns his own buisness, Shanda, 27 who has ownership of an espresso stand in Kettle Falls Wa. Luke who finished his paramedic training at T.C.C. and was hired last year as a firefighter/ paramedic for Centeral Kitsap Fire and Rescue and Shaina 19 just out of school. Since our kids are grown, for the last three years Cindy and I have taken in foster kids. psych.problems along with drug, alcohol, social and school problems. These kids have been terribly abused and what they need more than anything else is Love and caring which most have never had. I currently live near Kettle Falls ( north of Spokane near the Canadian border) have 6 horses, 15 dogs, 6 cats, 30 chickens. All on 70 acres to give the animals room to roam along with allowing me to do a little farming to feed those horses ( yes I drive 6 hours one way, 8 days a month to go to work.) I am involved in my church and am a follower of Jesus, I do some mission work in China and Vietnam. In three years I can retire, I possibly will get involved in a hospital some Tacoma physicians are trying to set up in Morocco. There is very little health care in that country. I have done alot of backpacking, all of Washington and parts of Oregon PCNST. last year walking the John Muir Trail (240miles) and the year before the wonderland trail I find that very relaxing
