Kirk's Story
Life
After leaving the friendly confines of WHS and KCK (same as my initials) I headed off to serve our country. I spent over 8 yrs in the US Navy. Attained the rank of E-5 Sonar Technician Surface Ships. After being discharged from active duty in July 1983 I journeyed the Western US for four months and then came back to KCK to attend KCKCC. Went to college at night, and worked during the day until my GI Bill expired in 1986. Worked for Dictaphone starting Nov 83 and was promoted to Columbia, MO in 1988. Spent over 17 years with Dictaphone. Due to the tech scene changing in 2001 and then Sept 11th I ended up working in the IT field for the Isle of Capri in Boonville and am there now. Was married from 1986 - 2003 with no children. Met my current wife via the Internet in 2004 and we married in 2005. I was provided with a ready made family of a daughter, and two sons. My daughter is married and has given my wife and I two beautifu...Expand for more
l grandchildren Hayleigh and Evan. My oldest son married in July 2007, he and his wife now have a handsome son, Lane. I actually became a grandparent before I became a parent. Inquire and I will explain.
What is most important to me is that I have found happiness in life. This has been to me a very fulfilling pursuit since it was early in life that I discovered what made me happy. Yet, it was the maturity that comes with age that made it easier to embrace these sources of happiness. For a hint, it is enjoying the simplest things in life that have been the most rewarding. I really look forward to seeing all my classmates after all these years. It is too bad that I couldn't be close friends to all of you. There are many of you that I know and admire, I hope all of you are happy too.
Don't look too far for happiness because it comes from within. Remember, the #1 determiner of your success or failure in life is your attitude.
