Kirk Leblanc:

CLASS OF 1978
Olivehurst, CA

Kirk's Story

Life I was only at Lindhurst for two years(Junior and Senior), and joined the military after graduation. I served four years in the Navy, got a Psych degree from Butte College in Oroville, CA. (after leaving the service), got married and had a son, who is now 15 years old. I've worked in a variety of fields from aircraft servicing to long-haul trucking. I am still working towards my goal of a Psychology related career. I've got all the real-life experience that anyone could ask for!! School I guess my favorite class was Mr. Reuben's creative writing class. I had a lot of fun in that class, and had some really cool classmates. I wish I had treated some of them better, and I wish I had gotten to know some of the others better as well. But overall it was pretty cool. Senior prom was "TOTALLY AWESOME", I guess would be the era-appropriate way to describe it. Spanish class was cool, and I even enjoyed Choir! Yep, I was just a shy, funny, quirky, lanky, geeky choir boy! College I attended Butte College in Oroville, CA after my stint in the Navy. I finished my A.S degree in Psychology, but got sidelined from finishing my B.S. when I met my wife. We started a family and I put my education on hold. Unfortunately, that relationship didn't last, but I still have a wonderful son to show for it. 10 years of child support have been the best investment I've ever made. oy, and my greatest accomplishment! Now that he's almost 18 though, I think about going back and pursuing the education I envisioned for myself. Maybe I'll be there about the same time HE goes to college! That would be a trip! Workplace As my bio stated, I've got plenty of real-life experience, and the range of occupations seems a little bizarre, even to me! After school I joined the Navy and eventually trained to be a nuclear reactor operator. (Seriously!) I served on the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Enterprise (no jokes about Capt. Kirk please) I found I didn't really care for that, and left after 4 years. I got an A. S. degree in Psychology, but never really used that professionally and haven't been back to school yet to pursue a higher degree. But in the meantime, I've been...a long-haul trucker, worked in a lumber mill, been an aviation ground-crew worker (and met the president...he was Governor of Texas at the time, though!), had plenty of menial but interesting jobs and never really settled into any of them. I currently work for a micro-electronics company similar to Intel, but founded in Europe and based near Dallas, Texas, called ST MicroElectronics. What will I be doing 5 years from now? I couldn't really tell you, but it will probably be something different. I figure by the time I hit 50, I might need to consider settling down and leading a "normal" life? Well, that's the plan anyway!
