Cathy's Story
Life
Well after graduating, Pam Warren and I went to Hawaii, and moved out together in October. We had a great time, but when I lost my job the following March I moved back home. Within 2 months I met the man I was to marry, moved in with him and we were married the following Valentines Day, 1976. We moved to Woodland,Ca just outside Sacramento. We lived in that area for 7 years. In 1981 we were divorced. I chose to stay in N.Ca, and returned to school. In 1982 I and a friend moved to Santa Rosa, CA where I continued in school and earned an AA, BA and MA over the next 6 years. My focus of study was psychology and my MA is in Marriage, Family Child Counseling. My practice focused on severely emotionally disturbed teenagers in residential care. I did that for 12 year. I lived there until it was clear that there were no real career opportunities in Sonoma County (22 people for every one therapist)and no eligible men (all married or gay). So after 19 years I acquiesced and came home in 1995.
I arrived just in time as Mom was getting married (dad died 5 years earlie...Expand for more
r), so I took over the family home. I got a temp job as an executive asst, making twice what I was as a professional therapist, AND I was actually having fun...so today I still am an E.A. In 1997 a friend twisted by arm to put an ad in the OC singles section and low and behold, I met my prince, Mike. We were married in 2000 and are coming up to our 5th anniversary. Mike had been divorced 10yrs earlier and has 3 grown children. He also had 2 baby (at the time) grandchildren Though I never had the joy of my own children, I jumped right over the hard stuff and into being a gramma!! We are expecting yet another granddaughter in December.
Mike and I bought a new house in the country in Riverside last year. It's on an acre so we always have stuff to do to get it the way we want. Mike owns his own business as a landscaper, so he's putting his masterpiece together on our little piece of land.
Well, there's a high level view of the last 30 years. Geez that sounds wierd. Anyway, to whomever is reading this, have an incredible say, and feel free to drop me a note.
