Kristie's Story
So what have I been doing the last 20 years....wow, that's a big question!
I attended Charles County Community College and worked at Solomons Recreation Center after High School. I met John Lippert while working at Solomons and we were married June 2, 1990. John was in the Navy so we immediately were transferred to Hawaii and were stationed there for 4 years. During that time I worked full-time as an Administrative Officer for the US Fish and Wildlife Service and attended Hawaii Pacific University where I graduated with a Bachelors in Business Management. During the next 18 years we lived in Maryland, Texas, and Maryland again. In Dec 2007 he retired from the Navy and we now live in Mechanicsville, MD with our 4 cats.
I am a Senior Financial Analyst for L-3 Communications and work on a data warehouse team at Pax River Base. I teach classes on how to use our reporting software in addition to user support and creating user manuals. Never in a million years would I have ever imagined I would be talking in front of a group of people without my face turning bright red like it did in high school!!!
In addition to my full time job, I am a computer consultant during my off hours. I started my own consulting/web design company while living in Corpus Christi, Tex...Expand for more
as and still do business with some of my Texas clients in addition to new clients in Maryland. Computer services include troubleshooting, virus removal, computer tune-up and clean-up, software and hardware improvements, etc. My clients love that I come to their house and show them not only how to use their computer hardware and software, but that they aren't afraid to ask me those 'dumb' questions. I've been told on several occasions that I'm very patient when dealing with my computer clients.
While my husband was deployed to Guam and Japan during his last tour in the Navy I began selling scrapbooking supplies. I started organizing all-day scrapbooking crops to raise money for phone cards for deployed soldiers. During the Scrapping for Soldier crops I collect homemade cards from scrappers and send these to deployed soldiers overseas as well as care packages. Being a military dependent my entire life, I find this very rewarding and know I am making a difference in the lives of our soldiers and their families.
During my free time I enjoy scrapbooking, photography, gardening, watching TV and movies, surfing the internet (yes, I'm a computer geek!), cross-stitching, talking to my friends, updating facebook, eating out, blogging, and playing with my cats.
