Katya (Kristin)'s Story
The first few years after dropping out of Rangeview (at 15, which explains why none of my high-school classmates remember me) were pretty busy: I got my HS diploma via distance education at 16, got married at 17, moved to southern California (where I'd spent my early childhood) and then back at 18, had a child at 19, was running my own desktop publishing business at 20, and was divorced (and changed my name) at 21. It was a pretty intense six years.
Life seemed to slow down a bit after that, and I met my second husband in 1992. I sold my business and we moved to Oregon in 1995, where we got married and had a...Expand for more
child together. The move only lasted six months, and we were back in Colorado in early 1996. The marriage lasted slightly longer, but we eventually divorced in 2006.
The third time seems to be the charm—third move, that is, not marriage; I'm NEVER getting married again—and the kids and I have lived in the Seattle area since 2007. I've been working at home as a freelancer, and providing support for my now-adult younger child, who is on the autism spectrum.
I still haven't given up on getting a novel or two published, but my life's been a little too busy for me to actively pursue that dream in recent years.
