Kristine's Story

Life I've been inspired by reading everybody's updates. It's great to see familiar names and faces and learn what everyone is doing. After LCHS, I graduated from Northwestern with a B.A. in chemistry. Next I went to graduate school at Duke University where I met my husband, Will Kiesman. He was a post-doc there. After getting my Ph.D. in bio-organic chemistry in 1996, I moved to Boston to conduct post-doctoral research at Harvard Medical School. My husband (then boyfriend) took a medicinal chemistry job at Biogen-Idec and moved up 8 months after me. We were married in 1998, moved into our new house in Wayland, MA in the spring of 1999, and I started a new job the fall of that year. After 8 years of doing r...Expand for more
esearch at a lab bench, I was ready for a change so I ended up taking a teaching position at Boston University Academy. Yes, I know, I've been at small private schools ever since LCHS. What can I say... I've been at BUA ever since. I teach tenth grade chemistry and love what I do now. I have two children. My daughter, Mackenzie, was born in 2001 and my son, Harrison, in 2003. I especially appreciate my job, now that I have children. It's great to have the summers off to spend with the kids at the town beach, riding bikes, and walking the dog. We got a goldendoodle, Blueberry, in 2005 after losing a poodle I got while in grad school in 1993. We also have a cat, Dagney, that was Will's from before we met.
