Kristofer's Story
Life
With the departure from High School I went on to school at the Citadel in Charleston. Spent 4 years at that maximum security college before the Navy decided to let me fly for them. Along the way I had some fun and finally decided it was time to grow up so I found a great woman, Kelly, and married her. We live in Virginia Beach and have an 11 month old Maximus who goes sailing with us on our Catalina 30. We've a cat named Tommi and a dog is in the near future.
Workplace
I went from College to the Navy where I flew fightersF-14D and F/A-18E/F. Awesome 11 years. Now I am flying 757/767's for Delta Air Lines and enjoying a more laid back lifestyle although the commuting from Virginia Beach to Atlanta is much fun.
Military
As I said earlier I was commissioned into the Navy in May of 1996. Went to Pensacola for 1 year and flew T-34c's during primary flight training. I then moved to Kingsville, Texas(Northern Mexico) and learned to fly/fight T-45A's. This was way more fun and was the first time with did dogfighting and bomb dropping. OBTW...Expand for more
it was the first time we landed on an aircraft carrier(10 daytime). Then moved to Virginia Beach and learned to fly the F-14D Super Tomcat. What a sexy beast. Fast all hell too! Landed at night on the Carrier and went to the VF-213 "Blacklions". Did 2 combat deployments 1.) first 4 months of Enduring Freedom -- flew the second strike off my boat into Afganhistan and got 300 hours of combat flight time. 2.)First 2 months of Iraqi Freedom -- Flew the first strike off my boat into Iraq during "Shock and awe" into Baghdad. Getting shot at is the ultimate rush...followed by fear...followed by training. If you have, you know what I mean.
After all that I went to Lemoore California to Fly F/A-18s for 1.5 years and now am back in Virginia Beach at VFA-106 as an Air-to-air and air-to-mud instructor on Super Hornets. Still doing it as a reservist. All in all, it was the best years I could've hoped for.
Now Flying for Delta Air Lines on the 757 and 767. It allows me to be home and not deployed overseas and I still get to fly fighters as a reservist.
