Kristyn's Story
Life
My birth parents came to find me in January of 1986 and along with them, my two half sisters Jennifer and Kristen.
My three older sisters from my adoptive family have all moved back to Oregon after being away for a few years.
School
Paul Graves and Karen West were in my first grade class, and Paul was the first person to be able to read his name and put the name tag on his desk. Well, maybe if my name had four letters I would have been quick at finding my name also. As it was I took the longest.
Paul I probably spelled your last name incorrectly, sorry. I enjoyed meeting your wife and seeing you at the reunion.
Bart Bradish, as if I wouldn't mention all those times we wiped out the front row of desks trying to leave class early for swim meets. If only my clog (shoe) wouldn't trip up your crutch, we wouldn't have crashed quite so many times. Good to meet your wife and see you as well. I wish we had more time to talk at the reunion.
Tim and Glenn, great to see you both at the reunion, neither of you has changed. You are still great people.
Lynette and Paulette, thank you so much for making the reunion so pleasureable, and for taking care of me when I became so sick.
College

laska and attended UAS in Juneau, and UAF in Fairbanks. Living in Fairbanks had some crazy moments. One winter the temperature dropped to -70 and being in a cabin with no running water meant using an outhouse. At -70 your body does not want to function. I had to unplug the car and drive to Fred Meyer just to use the bathroom. That was when I made the decision to move to Anacortes.
Workplace
I left Oregon in '86 due to the economy and ended up in Alaska, working as a swim coach and for the state. I moved to Fairbanks in '94 and enjoyed five years of living in a cabin and going to school while working. One of my jobs, as a field office manager for a pipeline construction company, gave me the training I needed in order to work up north in the arctic. So two years went by while I worked Alpine, Northstar and the second stage of the Alpine project. By then I was ready to move back south. However, Oregon had become too warm. So I moved to the San Juan Islands and enjoy moderate temperatures all year.
In Sept. 2006 I returned to Anchorage AK and went back to work in the oil industry. I now live downtown and enjoy being back to work for Udelhoven Oilfield System Services. I purchased a condo in May 2008 and have enjoyed buying furniture and settling into my new home.
