Janet's Story
In 1963 my mother moved to California, telling my dad if he wanted to come, to sell the house and bring the two oldest kids, my brother and me. My dad did just that and in February 1964 I started school in Garden Grove, CA. I just missed going to school with Steve Martin, he transferred to another school in Garden Grove. My head was partly shaved from a car accident just before I got here.There was an ugly scar not yet healed. I used a sun lamp to write my then boyfriend a two hour letter. My face burned down the center, red on one side, white on the other. It peeled. I had 2nd degree burns on the cornea of my eye.It dripped. I started my new high school like this.LOL Maybe thats why I love special needs kids, I know what its like to look different and face challenges. Ive been teaching special needs kids for many years. They make my heart smile.

My daughter, Chandra David, is the head California Condor keeper at the LA ZOO. Shes been on the news and in publications like the Smithsonian. Hands on, she climbs mountains, rides in helicopters, scares the heck out of me. Her picture is life size on the LA ZOO mobile too. She has two sons who are learning to be city boys and country boys at the same time.
My son Davy got married 7 years ago and has two little ones 6 and 4. They have lived here and in Uruguay and are bilingual. What a time we had when the little one couldnt speak English and would stay here while his parents worked! Before when teaching Spanish only kids, I could say, Come here, sit down, shut up and put your name on your paper. I got through it. It wasnt enough for a three year old!
I started my own jewelry company where I design and make jewelry. Im also writing a book. But not on here, so Id better leave my story before it is a book. LOL Thanks for reading! JF
